(45) Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) could greatly benefit from an increase in the demand for sustainable products but could also face costs and difficulties with some of the requirements. The Member States and the Commission should, in their respective areas of responsibility, provide adequate information, ensure targeted and specialised training, and provide specific assistance and support, includingfinancial, to SMEs active in the manufacturing of products for which ecodesign requirements are set. Those actions should, for example, cover the calculation of the product environmental footprint and the technical implementation of the product passport . Member States actions should be taken in respect of applicable State aid rules.

(45) Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) could greatly benefit from an increase in the demand for sustainable products but could also face costs and difficulties with some of the requirements. In order to support SMEs, the Member States and the Commission should, in their respective areas of responsibility, provide adequate information, ensure targeted and specialised training, and provide specific assistance and support, including, through existing funding and financing tools financial, to micro-enterprises and SMEs active in the manufacturing of products for which ecodesign requirements are set. Those measures should at least include specific mechanisms to facilitate compliance with the requirements set out in the product passport and with conducting life-cycle assessments. Member States actions should be taken in respect of applicable State aid rules. PE748.778/ 29
